Mundial Madness

It’s been a lot of fun to be in Ecuador during the world cup. Ecuador’s first game (vs. Poland) was declared a national holiday. School and work stops for fútbol. Even after Ecuador lost to England, cars honked to the pattern of ‘Sí se puede!’. When Ecuador’s selection came back, they were recieved as heroes: their plane was escorted by two fighter planes and people were so excited that the reception ceremony was almost a riot.

The video shows fútbol enthusiasm in school, in the air, in the park, hanging out of car windows, and on stage. Music by Quiteño group Tomback. The ska band with Ecuador uniforms and black faice paint is Rokola Bacalao.
